Raptor Watch 2009, 14 & 15 March, Tanjung Tuan
If you ran out of idea of where to go during this coming school break, take a trip to PNB Ilham Resort in Tanjung Tuan (near Port Dickson) to participate in the 2009 Raptor Watch organized by the Malaysian Nature Society. Get the best view of Saturn in 2009 at Planetarium Negara
In astronomical term, a planet is said to be in opposition when it reaches the opposite side of the sun with the Earth being at the centre of the planet and the Sun.
On 9 March 2009, Saturn, the sixth planet in and the second largest in our Solar System reached its opposition point. In the next few days, Saturn, as seen in the night sky, will be crossing the meridian (the imaginary line in the sky connecting the north celestial pole and the south celestial pole) roughly at midnight. It will rise during sunset and sets at sunrise. Saturn will appear brighter than usual because it faces the sun directly. The best time to observe an outer planet is undoubtedly when it is in opposition.
